Manipulating 3d Scans

In addition to editing the mesh model of a 3D scan one can also edit the texture map applied to its surface. The video and photos below come from a 3D Printing Industry article that humorously covers different consumer grade 3D scanners.

This video shows how simple it is to edit the .jpg or equivalent file in Adobe Photoshop. Many scanners will produce this file in addition to the 3D model. If you would like to experiment with this yourself something like this can be done for free with Autodesk 123D Catch.
